I am Parker Williams. I am a Husband, Father, Entrepreneur, Student, Innovator, Ideator, Software Developer, Business News Junky, Undergrad BYU IS, and MIS PhD hopeful at the University of Arizona.
I am a student attending Brigham Young University studying Information Systems. I graduate in April. I am always looking for opportunities to make the world a better place through business and technology. I look to get to know new people in every industry and grow my network as much as possible. I am a big believer in "It's who you know, not what you know". However, I am always looking to learn from who and what I can. Currently, I work for Dr. Jeff Jenkins as a Research Assistant. We study mouse cursor movements and what insights can be gained into an individual through how they move their mouse. I personally research how to make web-pages more accessible to individuals who experience hand tremors. I presented research at the Americas Conference on Informaton Systems in 2015 and at the International Conference on Information Systems in 2016. I hope to attend the University of Arizona in August 2017 to pursue a PhD in Management Information Systems. I enjoy learning from all sources. I love spending time with my wife and daughter, swimming, snowboarding, coding, traveling, and wood carving.
Currently, I am living in Provo, UT. I will be moving to the San Francisco Bay Area in April.
I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area until I left for college. I started at Brigham Young University in Fall of 2009. From summer 2010 to summer 2012 I served as a missionary, volunteer representative, for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Colorado and Kansas. The life lessons I learned during this time in my life taught me a lot about perseverance, hard work, selfless service, and leadership. In fall 2012 I started back at BYU and have been diligently working to finish up my education. Since starting back at BYU in 2012 I got married and had my first child.
I am a dreamer and a goal setter. If I put my mind to something, I will not stop until I am done. I believe that experiential learning is far more productive and effective than traditional learning. I am fascinated with startups, entrepreneurship, business, finance, networking, software development, technology, and enjoy reading books about business. I am passionate about my family, my faith, achieving my goals, research, and combining technology with business to solve problems.
